Spring is almost springing. It's like every lick of sunshine we get is followed by a punch in the face as the weather has pummelled through all seasons in such a short time. Hail, high winds, sunshine and rain.
I've not felt my best this month. I had to hand my notice into my job so that I can give myself time to focus on myself first. It's been incredibly difficult to come to terms with as I worked so hard to get into that position, but I'm leaving knowing that I have still made an impact in the short time that I have been there. In the corporate world, my specialism is definitely digital learning. However, I'm fortunate enough to have the support around me that will allow me to take a step back and have the headspace to take care of myself. I need to learn how to slow down and be more present so this is my time to do so.
Anyway, back to this month's memoir.
We wrapped up the six nations with a fajita night at my grandparents'. Alex bought the ingredients and we all cooked together, nan found it hard to leave us to it. Alex's girlfriend made a tirimisu which was amazing, it was made with baileys which made it less of a harsh alcohol taste and much creamier. It's actually sad we aren't spending our saturday nights round hers but James has said that we should go round to watch the 1% club when we can. It's been so nice spending time with Alex and Harvey more too!
It was Mothers day the sunday after the final six nations day, so we spent all weekend with family that weekend. My mum and dad were away in Sri Lanka and the Maldieves, living it up in their retirement. James and I moved in to their house with Mishka to help look after their cat, Kitty. It was weird being back in my childhood bedroom but also so nice to have a bigger kitchen to cook in!
Mum wasn't home for mothers day but Aunty Sarah invited James and I round for a roast and that was lovely evening too. I made a pavlova which has been my nans speciality for years! I've probably written about it in this blog before!
We went to Josies with Lucy and James's mum for mother's day too. Then, when mum came back, I took her to Josies for brunch too. Josie's has become our go to breakfast spot lately.
Wednesday has become our games night as we invited Steph and Rhyd over for a games night whilst we were staying at my parents and then we had another one the week after and then the week after that too! It's so nice to feel comfortable being sociable again.
The gym hasn't been going as well aside hoped. I've just been in the worst headspace this month and haven't been able to focus in the gym without thinking about getting back home to start work. I'm going to need to write myself a little program to follow based off of my old routine to help myself get back on track again.
We had a lovely weekend in London for Imogen's birthday present. I bought her tickets for us to go and see SIX on the west end. It was a brilliant show and the boys didnt mind it either. It was a bit more like a concert than a theatre production. The theatre was small and intimate which was so lovely, we were on the back row but still saw everything without a problem. We went to a really sweet Italian restaurant for dinner in covent garden before the theatre and we all said we'd go back there. It was so nice to spend the weekend with Imogen and Ed, it felt like a mini holiday.
I'm currently writing this blog from our Cruise ship in the Norwegian Fjords which is pretty cool. However, I think James might be completely put off by the weather and the fact it's half term. Think floating butlins, that's what half the ship has been like, particularly because we weren't able to dock in one of the ports due to bad weather conditions. Oops!
The ship rocked so much on the way across the north sea and we both felt ill from it. We've had a nice time so far otherwise. Our cabin has a balcony and is big enough for us to chill out in, which is needed as there are so many families on board and the ship is pretty crowded. We've been to a drag show and seen an aerial act and have eaten at the nice restaurants.
March has been a bit blurry because of my headspace but I'm looking forward to returning to supply teaching at the end of April and focusing on returning to myself too!
