Nope, I didn’t forget to write about April…I’ve just been a tired girly and somehow blinked and ended up here on May 2nd.
April felt full in that very “life just kept happening” kind of way.
The biggest highlight to start with was finishing our Norwegian Fjords cruise. It still doesn’t quite feel real that we were watching the Northern Lights from our balcony before we went to bed! We also visited Ålesund Aquarium, wandered Stavanger with a stop in the cutest pastries shop, and I came home with a little statue of my favourite Norse goddess, Freya.
We got home early on Easter Sunday and went straight into one of those wholesome, nostalgic days. We visited Manor Farm with Lucy, which I’ve loved since I was little. There were lambs and piglets which was so fitting for easter. It made me really excited to take my own children there one day. Mum had us over after for a roast and an Easter egg hunt afterwards and it was one of those cosy family days that you wish you could bottle up.
There were lots of little social moments threaded through the month too.
Megan and Jordan got engaged!!! We went round for a impromptu BBQ to celebrate them when they returned from their trip to Holland.
Grand National day was at Mum’s with a big group of us, chilli on the go, everyone gathered around the TV, and then games afterwards. Slight chaos, but the good kind.
James and I had a day out in Amesbury where we bought crystals from little spiritual shops, followed by a light pub lunch and then a date night at Blue Jasmine, which is the same place we had our first date. It was a lovely chilled day.
I had lunch with Imogen at Josie's where we did that thing of ordering too much, talking non-stop, and leaving very full and very happy. Definitely need more of that.
There was also a spontaneous little camping trip with Steph, Rhydian, Oliver and Frankie in the Forest of Dean . The campsite was actually so nice (and my airbed stayed inflated, which feels like a win). It was only one night but such a fun, slightly chaotic reset. The next morning we went to walk through Puzzlewood, which felt very whimsical, like stepping into another world.
We’ve also been deep into our murder mystery era. Weve been completing these cold case mystery packs at Steph and Rhydian’s where everyone works together to solve the case...we smashed the second one but we're way off with the first.
We met Bee and Johnny and Beth and Charlie for a walk and roast in Lyndhurst the weekend after camping. It was so good to catch up with them but also really hot all day! It's been nice to have sunnier days.
Game night at Alex’s made a comeback too. We played Wii games and worms mayhem. There was lots to catch up on and a lot of laughing.
I also went to the Learning Technologies exhibition which felt strangely grounding. It was really nice to see my old team from RELEX and just be there out of curiosity rather than pressure.
And then… the biggest shift of the month.
I left my job. There’s a mix of emotions spinning round my head at the moment; relief, uncertainty, excitement but mostly a quiet sense that I’m stepping into something slower, something that hopefully fits me a little better than the corporate world.
